  • "Montirius is the contraction of the first names of the 3 children of Christine & Eric Saurel: MON (Manon) + TI (Justine) + RIUS (Marius). It has been a family estate for 5 generations. In 1980, Max Saurel, father of Eric, stops using chemical fertilizers, already sensing their negative effects on the soil and people. Eric, who has been working on the estate for 26 years, is driven by the constant search for the right balance, to obtain great local wines. He converted the estate to Bio-Dynamic cultivation in 1996 before building his new winery in 2002.
  • Montirius is thus located in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, under the gaze of Mont Ventoux. If you are lucky enough to go to Montirius, you will notice that the place emanates an air of sweet southern tranquility, like a taste bud muse.
  • Manual harvest.
  • Traditional vinification in cement vats. Total destemming, light crushing and natural yeasts from the grapes.
  • Aging in cement vats without interior lining for 6 months to a year. 100% unwooded.
  • Wine of good drinkability in its youth with well-blended tannins.
  • Aromas of delicious red fruits accompanied by a lovely tannic structure."
