- "Le Clos Cibonne is located in Le Pradet between Hyères and Toulon. The estate extends over 15 hectares on the seaside.
- The authenticity of Clos Cibonne comes from its ancient history around an old grape variety: Tibouren. Tiburen is in fact an old grape variety since it dates back to ancient times; we trace its presence in lower Mesopotamia then in Rome where Julius Caesar delighted in Tibur wines.
- Tibouren is a noble and demanding grape variety whose grapes only ripen in privileged, very sunny places on the edge of the Mediterranean.
- The origins of the Provence Clos Cibonne estate date back to the 17th century with the Vallavielle family. Jean-Baptiste de Cibon, fleet captain, acquired the manor house in 1787, after having led numerous battles aboard ships. The estate is thus named “La Cibonne” in reference to its owner.
- The man left Toulon in 1798 with his wife Marie-Jeanne Robert de Chateauvert to settle in Gibraltar. The estate was then sold in part to members of the Roux family, who lived there for more than two hundred years. In the middle of the 19th century, mixed farming was carried out at Clos Cibonne when Marius Roux inherited the property. Provence flowers, citrus fruits and a few plots of vines, notably Tibouren grapes, are then planted there.
- The wine history of the Clos Cibonne estate took a turning point in the 1930s, when heir André Roux abandoned mixed farming in favor of viticulture. He thus planted plots of tibouren, a grape variety that was already old for the time, for which man had a passion. His efforts were rewarded in 1955, when he obtained a "Cru Classé" designation for his wine in Provence, even before the creation of AOCs (appellations d'origine contrôlée).
- Upon his death in 1989, this estate in Provence passed into the hands of his daughter Jacqueline, who took charge of the viticulture alongside her husband Émile Mourchou. Sixty years old, he undertook a "restructuring" of the estate by acquiring plots of land, soon planted with tibouren. The cellar is also renovated. In 2003, his daughter Brigitte and Claude Desforges inherited Clos Cibonne.
- Rosé Tradition Tibouren is aged for at least 12 months in century-old barrels.
- The nose is captivating, warm, sweet aromas of spices.
- The palate is vinous, melted and has an astonishing minerality."
