  • "The Château du Rouët was formerly a Templar farm and then a former stagecoach relay. A few years before the revolution, the Marquis de V fell in love with this Château, he hunted there regularly and decided to plant vines and olive trees there.
  • In 1840, Château du Rouët was bought by the current owner family. The property is made up of more than 1000 hectares of forest, allowing it to generate income through the sale of maritime pine wood and its cork harvest.
  • In 1927, after a big fire destroyed the Estérel de Mandelieu in La Motte. Lucas Savatier decides to protect the forest by clearing fire trenches and planting them with vines and peach trees.
  • After 1945, the estate began selling wine and significantly developed its production in the 1960s.
  • In 1990, Martin Savatier modernized the vineyard and contributed to the birth of the Fréjus appellation. It allowed the Château to make a name for itself in France and abroad.
  • The Cuvée Belle Poule evokes the illustrious ship which linked its name to that of Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1840, this boat repatriated the ashes of the Emperor from the Island of Saint Helena. In 1888, Lucien Savatier, who considerably developed the Château du Rouët vineyard, was also director of the Forges et Chantiers de la Seyne sur Mer in the Var. When the "Belle Poule" was entrusted to him to be disarmed, he took care to preserve two doors of historical character: that of the cabin where the ashes of the Emperor were located. These doors still adorn the chapel of Château du Rouët...
  • For this rosé wine the harvest is manual, the maceration is skin-based at low temperature with the first saignée juice.
  • Very intense nose, scent of small red fruits and candied black fruits.
  • The palate confirms the nose, with an added hint of amyl, lovely freshness balanced by lots of fat.
  • Very nice length in the mouth, which ranks it among the very great."
