- "The creation of Clos du Calvaire as a wine estate dates back to 1923 but the precursors cultivated the village land as early as the 18th century.
- Located on the outskirts of the prestigious village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the family estate has been perpetuated over the generations, historically by the Mayard family, then Roumieux. Founded in 1923, Clos du Calvaire now makes room for new generations. Sharing and know-how are passed on and renewed, our philosophy is resolutely focused on respect for life and the ecosystem in which the vine takes root. All of our plots are cultivated organically with a focus on agroecology to improve the biodiversity and sustainability of the Châteauneuf du Pape vineyard. Over the years and the work of each generation of winegrowers, we maintain the objective of producing vintages reflecting the authenticity of the grape varieties and the excellence of the terroirs of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation.
- This historic Cuvée was produced in 1923 by Marie Louise and Alphonse Mayard, second generation of winegrowers in Châteauneuf du Pape in the family and creators of Clos du Calvaire.
- Manual harvest in 20 kg boxes, hand-sorted in the plot and in the cellar, vatted by gravity, completely crushed and destemmed.
- Aged for 12 months in steel vats and tuns.
- Aromas of jammy red fruits and rose petals.
- The palate is full and suave with fresh notes of garrigue on fine and persistent tannins."
