"Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy, perpetuating traditions for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations.
  
In 1775, Joseph Bouchard acquired the first vines in Volnay in the famous "Caillerets" climate, and began building the family estate. His son, Antoine Philibert Joseph Bouchard, seized the opportunity of the sale of the clergy and nobility's property confiscated during the French Revolution to expand the estate with the purchase of several plots in Beaune, including the famous "Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus".
  
The ambition to create an exceptional estate in Côte d'Or spans generations and new acquisitions in the most beautiful villages were added throughout the 19th century and again during the 20th.
  
A beautiful legend surrounds this appellation: highly prized by Charlemagne, Corton was this period an exclusively red wine. It was only at the end of the emperor's life that the south-facing plots were planted with chardonnay, to produce a white wine that would not stain his flowery beard. In 1909, the Bouchard Père & Fils house acquired 60% of the "Le Corton" climate, which has a rare characteristic: it can be planted with pinot noir as well as chardonnay. Today, the Maison Père & Fils is the 3rd largest owner in Corton Charlemagne.
  
Manual harvest in small 13kg crates. Careful manual sorting of each bunch.
  
Aged for 12 to 13 months in French oak barrels, with up to 15% new barrels depending on the vintage.
  
The Caves de Bastions of the former Château de Beaune offer ideal ambient conditions. This Grand Cru enjoys an environment perfectly suited to serene aging from a very young age.
